Dear friends and supporters,
It’s an honor to introduce myself to this outstanding community. My name is Jenny Leopold, and I’ll be stepping in as Interim Executive Director while we search for a permanent director to take WriteBoston into a new era of leadership.
I got to know WriteBoston through a chance meeting with Sarah Poulter several years ago. Since then, I’ve volunteered as a tutor, an editor, and a member of various fundraising committees. It’s with gratitude that I take on this interim role to help guide WriteBoston through this exciting moment.
I myself have a professional background in fundraising and nonprofit work, most recently as the Development Director of The Chesapeake Shakespeare Company in Baltimore. In getting to know WriteBoston, I’ve been continually impressed by the skill and dedication of the staff and board—which I know will continue to anchor our work during this transition.
We’re currently working with a search firm to identify a permanent new director. The job description was posted in November (you can still share the listing here). We’ve already received lots of interest, initiated the screening process, and we’re hopeful that we’ll have a new director in place within 2-3 months.
I want to thank each of you for joining me in support of this organization—in particular for your generous contributions to our year-end fundraiser. Thanks to all of you, we raised over $40,000! I have no doubt that you’ll continue to show up for WriteBoston’s transformative work with youth and educators.
I look forward to getting to know you more in the weeks to come. Please feel free to reach out to me anytime at jennyleopold@writeboston.org.
With gratitude,
Jenny Leopold
Interim Executive Director
